What We Can Do at a Last-Minute Visit

Same-Day Vaccines

Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A, Typhoid (injectable), Meningitis ACWY, Japanese Encephalitis, and others can all be given at your visit, with no pharmacy wait.

Malaria Prophylaxis

Malarone (atovaquone-proguanil) starts 1–2 days before travel and is prescribed on the spot. Doxycycline is another option with a similar short lead time.

Standby Medications

Prescriptions for traveler's diarrhea antibiotics (azithromycin, ciprofloxacin), altitude sickness medication (acetazolamide), and other standby treatments for your kit.

Yellow Card Issued

As a certified Yellow Fever vaccination site, we administer the vaccine and issue the International Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Card) required for entry to many African and South American countries.

Prioritized Risk Advice

When time is short, knowing what matters most is critical. Your physician will focus on the highest-impact steps for your specific destinations, not a generic checklist.

Written Travel Plan

You leave with a summary of what was given, what to watch for, food and water guidance, and who to contact abroad if you get sick, a practical reference for the road.

Last-Minute Travel FAQ

Can I still get vaccinated if I'm leaving in a few days?

Yes. Many vaccines provide meaningful protection even when given close to departure. Same-day Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and other single-dose vaccines all offer benefit even with limited lead time. Call us directly for same-day or next-day availability.

Which vaccines work fastest?

Single-dose vaccines administered the day of your visit include Yellow Fever (effective after 10 days), Hepatitis A, Typhoid (injectable), Meningitis, and several others. These provide substantial protection even for imminent travel. Multi-dose series like Hepatitis B or Rabies pre-exposure cannot be compressed into a single visit.

Can I get malaria pills on a same-day visit?

Yes. Atovaquone-proguanil (Malarone) is one of the most commonly prescribed malaria prophylactics and starts just 1–2 days before entering a malaria-endemic area. It can be prescribed at your visit. Doxycycline can also start 1–2 days prior. Mefloquine requires 2–3 weeks of lead time.

Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?

We operate by appointment. For urgent same-day needs, calling us directly at 212-982-1600 is faster than booking online. Tell us your departure date and we'll do everything we can to get you in quickly.

Is it worth coming if I'm leaving tomorrow?

Absolutely. Even a visit the day before departure is far better than no preparation at all. Same-day vaccines, a prescription for traveler's diarrhea standby antibiotics, malaria pills, and 20 minutes of expert guidance on what to watch for can make a real difference, even with a day to spare.
